SERVICES PROVIDED BY ST. JOHNS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Bike Rodeo

Every two years, the Police Dept hosts a bike rodeo for children in K-3rd grades. The kids are taught bike safety rules, fitted with helmets, given a bike license and a free bike inspection, and allowed to practice those safety rules on a closed course.

Cops-N-Kids

Book Program-Police officers carry books in their patrol vehicles to give to children they may come into contact with. The program allows officers to have contact with the children in our City in a positive way.

D.A.R.E.

Drug Abuse Resistance Education is taught to 5th grade students in all St Johns Schools. They are taught to resist alcohol, drugs and violence.

Halloween Safety Program

Officers go into K-2nd grade classrooms during the week before Halloween to present a short video and remind children of Halloween safety rules.

National Night Out

NNO is held on the first Tuesday in August in the parking lot of the St. Johns Lutheran Church at Sturgis Street and Business 127. There are games and activities for kids, good food, and fun for all!

T.E.A.M.

Presentations in the schools-The Teaching, Educating and Mentoring program sends police officers into all the schools (K-12) in the City to present age appropriate programs in the classroom setting.

Tours of the Police Department

Tours are conducted every year for different school groups. Children are able to see the police cars up close as well as talk to policemen and see what their jobs entail.
