Fantasy Forest 2.0
Many years ago, the St. Johns community came together to create a beautiful wood play structure for kids to enjoy. After years of planning and construction, the community was ready to open Fantasy Forest in October of 2000. This beautiful wooden structure was loved by all for many years. However, the elements began to deteriorate the playground thus requiring greatly increased time and money to keep the playscape maintained and safe.
In 2023, the City applied for a SPARK grant for funding of the design and portions of the construction costs for a reimagined Fantasy Forest Playscape.
Fantasy Forest 2.0 is a designed playscape that embraces the community spirit and collaboration of the past while reflecting our modern goals. Fantasy Forest 2.0 will feature a new play structure and flooring designed to enhance play experiences. It will be a sanctuary where laughter and adventure thrive, with a strong focus on safety and stimulation.
The Fantasy Forest 2.0 Master Plan process was guided by the Fantasy Forest core team and approved by the St. Johns City Commission. This core team is made up of many members of the community. This new playscape will be built to withstand the elements and be accessible to all ages and abilities. The Fantasy Forest 2.0 project has an estimated cost of $2.4 million. Fundraising efforts have begun to raise the money necessary to construct the full master plan, to date grants have provided approximately half of the funding necessary, however, we still need your support to bring this dream to life. If fundraising falls short of the $2.4 million, the master plan will be built in phases over the next several years.
The City of St. Johns, in collaboration with the St. Johns Area Community Fund, invites you to join us in turning this master plan into reality.
